There’s something incredibly special about backyard weddings and the way they slow everything down. Every detail feels personal, every moment meaningful. And this summer backyard wedding in Reno, Nevada that I had the honor of photographing, embodied all of that and more.
While surrounded by their closest family, these two celebrated the start of their marriage in the most heartfelt, intentional way. It wasn’t about grandeur or extravagance, but about connection. The kind you can feel in quiet embraces, in shared laughter, and in the way everyone present knew just how meaningful this moment was.
When I asked what they were most hoping I would capture, her response said it all: “Everything. From my family to his family to our love to the love of my siblings and parents. All of it :)”
And that’s exactly what this day was—all of it. With every hug that lingered a little longer, every proud smile from their parents. And every moment of connection between these two families.
The backyard setting made everything feel so intimate and personal. Familiar spaces transformed into a place where vows were exchanged, where promises were made, and where two lives officially became one. There was a softness to the day—a kind of ease that only comes when surrounded by the people who know you best.
This summer backyard wedding in Reno, Nevada was a beautiful reminder that what matters most isn’t the size of the celebration. Instead, it’s about the depth of the love within it. And this day? It was overflowing with it.
Twenty years from now, I have no doubt they’ll remember exactly what they hoped to: the love between them. And the love that surrounded them every step of the way.
